My boss has officially attained god status. |
|
Backstory: I ordered and received this week a Canon dSLR, and had it shipped to my work address (much, much excitement over the camera). My boss saw the box sitting on my desk a couple of days ago, and we start chatting about cameras, as he's also an amateur photography buff. He just switched from a Canon similar to mine to (what I'm sure was a shockingly expensive) Nikon dSLR.
So when I come in to work today, sitting on my desk is a brand new, still-in-the-box Canon Speedlite flash that he bought but never used. He GAVE it to me. A $300 flash.
My boss is now a god.

Which camera did you get? I'm torn between a 30D and waiting for the next new xxD model and buying some nice lenses in the meantime

He's mellow and awesome.
I got the Canon Rebel XTi 10.1MP, and I'm just over the moon excited. I used to be an SLR freak years ago, got out of the habit of using it, and have been waiting for the prices to go down (and my income to go back up) so I could get one of the dSLRs.
I'm a happy girl this morning. Now I get to go decide which lenses I want....

5. My dad got one of those, compared to my first-generation Rebel 300 |

it's a wonderful piece of technology.
Anyway, I just picked up a 50mm 1.4, and love the contrast and saturation on it.

I'm sure I'll be a regular down in the photography forum asking for advice (especially on lenses).

3. That is fantastic. Good for you! Your boss sounds like a gem. |

My old boss paid for my honeymoon flight to Spain, which was pretty awesome. I will say that Iberia Airlines was offering round trip fares from Chicago for $259 at the time, but it's still an incredibly generous gift.
I eventually hated working for him because he had a very bad temper and his wife was an emotional wreck (she came on as a partner when they got married). But when he was in a good place he could be the most generous guy around. We had a fantastic time on that trip so I have him to thank for it.
