I mean...what the fuck IS this? Has Tommy boy even seen this movie?

Birdcage sequel in the works, with Tom Cruise involved

In a conference call with MGM executives, United Artist bosses Paula Wagner and Tom Cruise announced they are making a Birdcage sequel, reports the New York Daily News' Rush and Molloy.

Speaking to execs, Wagner listed some of UA's upcoming projects, which include a sequel to T he Birdcage, the 1996 gay-themed comedy hit. The Birdcage, which starred Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, was a remake of the 1978 French film La Cage aux Folles.

Wagner and Cruise took over the reins of UA, an MGM subsidiary, in November. (The Advocate)

1. If so, it's his taunt to the "Tom Cruise Come out of the Closet" rumormakers
If he does it, I will gain a small amount of respect for him.

tommy gets dumped by one of the most beautiful woman in the world for a drunk country and western star. then he marries a child like waif that talks out of the side of her mouth....now bad gay comedy? well there will be no doubt that the movie will be far worse than the 96 film. i wonder what part tommy boy will play?

8. Wonder if Hank Azaria be in this one too?

He absolutely stole that movie the first time. I'd for sure want to see a sequel if he's in it, but I also do NOT want to see Tom Cruise in any movie.

Decisions decisions...

9. ah

I'm sorry, I just can't picture it. What, the original, plus the Robin Williams version weren't sufficient? Why do big stars always try to ruin good movies?

Pssst Tommy baby, you're not that good of an actor. You're not capable of a stretch -- Interview with a Vampire should have made that clear.

13. There were two sequels to the original La Cage aux folles
and they really weren't very good. So lets hope that unlike the Birdcage, which was almost a shot for shot remake of La Cage aux folles, that they start with soemthing original.
