Anyone else find it nearly impossible to sit through a full television show?
I just can't get into most t.v. series, because I can't sit on the couch for a half hour to an hour and just...well...SIT.

About the only thing I watch with regularity is the Office, and I fall asleep during movies.

Anyone with me?

1. I'm the same way
actually, I mostly stick to sitcoms because 30 minutes is the maximum amount of time I can spend watching one thing, and even then it has to be a good show (like you, the only show I watch regularly is the Office).

As for movies - I rarely see a whole one. I go crazy at the movie theater - I get jittery and think of all other things I could be doing. If I rent a movie or watch one on TV, there's a 95% chance that I won't watch the whole thing - at least not in one sitting.

3. "think of all the other things I could be doing"
-that's it, exactly.

Perhaps because I'm an at-home Mom, and my home is my "workplace." There's no leaving work at the office; everywhere I look are things I feel like I should be doing.

Ugh!

2. I think I have Adult Attention Deficit Disorder.....
I have a really short attention span anymore. I cannot sit through a movie. I can only watch TV while flipping channels every time a commercial comes on, or it gets boring.

I used to watch a lot of one-hour programs (St. Elsewhere, Law and Order, Northern Exposure, etc.) but I don't watch any series-type programs anymore. Is it us, or is TV just BAD?

4. Tv IS bad!
I hate all the reality shows, and everything is so formulaic. It just isn't interesting or novel enough for me to get sucked in.

5. I usually read while watching TV
So I can sit through a whole show pretty easily. I hardly ever watch movies, though, and the tv I watch is either my taped soaps, sitcoms, or sports none of which require ultra intense concentration.

Except for Michigan football, though, which I watch extremely closely. My SO and I are the atypical couple when it comes that (in regards to stereotypes); I'm glued to the game while he runs errands, etc., taking advantage of no traffic on the streets!

6. No
I can sit through as long as it's something I want to watch..watching TV shows is relaxing to me...so I enjoy the time I get to do it.

8. I can't, but only because I'm not used to just sitting and watching TV.
I'm almost always doing something else in addition to watching TV.

10. not since I got tivo
and I can speed through the commercials. I hate watching shows in real time anymore.

Movies are OK still though. Although, there are some things I fast forward through, b/c I've seen too many similar scenes in other programs.

12. I don't like regular television because I find the commericials distracting
My entire life, I have read, played imaginatively, watched movies, writen creatively, done art work, and other practices in escaping reality for consecutive hours. Such things are easy for me. Commercials ruin my experience though. I prefer to rent dvds. We have rented or bought a few series, somethimes watching several episodes consecutively.

13. Yep, I agree. The commercials blow it for me, too....
...I'd rather watch a show all the way through, than suffer the commercials.

17. yep, the commercials
that's mostly why I won't watch tv anymore, they make me feel filthy.
I watched that Planet Earth series on Discovery channel, almost four hours total of commercials

14. me
I can watch movies no problem, but the only thing I'll watch on tv is PBS, and Jon Stewart a couple nights a week- & just that's difficult. A few minutes of most anything on the tv makes me feel like the world's gone totally stupid when I'm already disappointed enough without seeing tv.
After Washington Week tonight my husband turned to some corny makeover show, everything about it was so idiotic and a waste of my time. And it's supposed to be hanging-out-together Friday night, he got mad at me for being "snooty" or something, but I can't spend time that way. Even complaining on the internet is a better way to waste it than watching ladies learn how to fix their makeup, between commercials.

sorry to rant, I'm just being snooty tonight I guess x(

15. Yes.
I can't do it. Of course, my work and school schedule has been so crazy that I can't get it to any one show, but I had trouble before too. I drive my husband bonkers sometimes (ok, frequently) because I talk during movies (DVD's) so much.

I told him he should start the "Finnfan movie review" site and give movies the "Sarah's Gabbiness Rating" as how to rank the movie. What I mean is, the less I talk, the better the movie. :D

18. Sort of
It's not that I can't sit still and pay attention for that long - I've had a couple of 8 hour marathon sessions at my computer before playing Civ 4 or doing graphics work. I just can't sit through 45 minutes of commercials to see 15 minutes of actual programming. Seeing the same male enhancement commercial five times within a 30 minute period drives me insane.

About the only shows I care enough about to suffer through the commercials are The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and the astronomy oriented shows on the Science Channel. (Yes, I'm a geek, but at least I'm a liberal geek :P)

23. the only tv show I can sit through is Boston Legal
sometimes one or the other of the Bravo 'reality' shows, but mostly I just like to know what the challenge is, then I'll wander off for a half hour or so, and come back to see the end result and the judging.
