1. From the article:
"They don't have any reason to believe the child provoked the dog in any way," said Cindy Beavers, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. "The parents heard something going on and found the dog attacking the child."

Pit bulls were responsible for nearly one-third of the 238 fatal dog attacks in the United States during a 20-year study by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

oh and

4. my cousin's grandson was just attacked by one of those fucking dogs
Edited on Sat May-19-07 11:33 AM by nini
He too had facial injuries and almost lost his eye.

The dogs need to be wiped off the planet and their owners need to be thrown in a lion's cage to see how it feels to be attacked like that.

While I used to blame the owners of those dogs there is obviously something with that breed that allows them to snap like they do. The owners are then irresponsible for allowing those dogs to ever be in a position to attack - even at their own homes. Cages?

7. All dogs were bred to do a job. Beagles chase rabbits,
so I know I can never allow the beagle loose around anyone's rabbit. Pit bulls were bred to fight creatures their own size or smaller to the death. Anyone who allows a pit bull around a child is a criminal. No one with children should own pit bulls. Ever.

8. I don't get the virulent defense of some animals.
Regardless of whether or not they were "made" that nasty, they still did serious injury, and need to be take away from children at the very least and given to people who can handle them. The dipshits who keep huge and/or vicious dogs in urban or suburban areas and can't control them need to be taken care of.

9. I guess they may change their tune when it's someone they love in their jaws
It's not a good feeling to think a 14 month old child who means the world to so many people may die because of a dog who can turn at any moment for whatver reason.

5. Silly people
Pit Bulls don't attack kids, Pit Bull OWNERS acting in a negligent way make Pit Bulls attack kids.

Just like that ludicrous "Guns don't kill people" argument
