2. I suppose so. The boy looks to be too young to be a soldier though. |

7. WW 1 - look up "Doughboys"; these were boys under the age of 18 who warred. |

10. Yes, but this is clearly not WW1. I just think if the artists intended to depict a typical |
|
soldier of vietnam, he would have used someone who looked a bit older than 12 or so.

That just leaped to mind, seeing that.
Hell, I probably wildly missed the point of this.

The place: 1960s middle class?
Politicians working - in b/w so it must be something evil, or at least not doing the 'correct' thing.
Background looks pleasant except everybody is shunning the dude with arrows going through him.
Note the arrow guy is not bleeding.
The girl in the very 1965 skirt oddly enough looks semi-concerned, but hardly gushing "Oooh, he's dead!"
I didn't fathom the helicopters until looking back up. Vietnam? Vietnam started in 1959.
What was JFK's take on vietnam?
The middle class did not care about this war in the early 1960s.
The dude with the arrows must be a soldier; one nobody gave a frig about.
The girl looking at him seems more interested in... something not related to him while she clutches her bunny?

8. He's got some interesting stuff... |

Reminds me a little of Bosch, with all the symbolism. I wonder why he has no paintings from 2000 or 2001?

11. to me it symbolizes what we have done to the youth of this |
|
nation. specifically the white lower middle class. this boy/man is sacrificed so that we may maintain our lifestyle. this girl/woman has not yet begun to realize that she has just lost the love of her life.
anyway that is my take on it, ymmv
