So the parents are grilling steaks this afternoon
They are putting a baked potato on the grill for me since I don't eat meat(I don't think I've posted yet that I've been a vegetarian now for about 2 months).

What are you grilling/cooking this saturday? :hi:

5. that's about what the pork my mom bought the other day looks like
she gets our meat from a local butcher so it's all local meat - which she likes better because there is less of a chance of all the crap they put into meat at places like walmart and win dixie

You've already taken a huge step for your health as well as the health of the planet (and the animals you aren't, you know...eating).

3. I haven't really decided yet. I had waffles for brunch.
For dinner I'm thinking maybe bbq tofu, roasted corn and grilled asparagus, but I'm not really married to the idea yet and I might lean toward something else before time to start cooking.

Edited on Sat May-19-07 04:02 PM by LeftyMom
I like it in soup, and grilled. I put it in fajitas. What I like best though is to brush it with olive oil and grill it with a little salt and coarse ground pepper.

8. Afritada, rice, and bean threads
Afritada is made with half of a chicken, two cups of baby yellow potatoes, onions, garlic, peppers, green beans, and asparagus in a tomato-based sauce. The rice is just plain rice. The bean threads are soaked in sauce and stir fried with veggies.

23. We were going to do pork ribs
but there appears to be a leak in the gas line and hubby didn't think it was safe to use the grill. It's almost 7 years old anyway and not a pricy model to start with. Home Depot has a CharBroil (mr 'pede's preferred brand) for $99. We saw it a couple of weeks ago and were talking about how soon we might need a new grill. Guess now we do.

25. Well I Tried To Fix You A Sandwich
and put meat on it and had to take it back

have them grill you some green peppers and baked potato, put it in foil with some margarine and onions, and spices, and cut it up and cook :9

I'm not grilling anything, but I did have grilled meat earlier, burgers that were good.

Remember to get your protein from somewhere, tofu can be good :P

But I don't think you can grill it.

:pals:

We were veggie for a long time. We still eat that way sometimes, so you'd get plenty to eat around here. :)

I always grill bake potatoes... I put them in the microwave first, then slather them with Italian Dressing, and grill. They are really good and tender.

32. How do you know a potato isn't traumatized when we kill it?
Name a food that hasn't lived. You can't.

Is an animal somehow more noble than a plant? If it weren't for people eating cows they would be extinct, that goes for chickens as well. I say ENJOY the bounty, they died for your nourishment. They also lived because of your need to eat.

36. Next weekend we're going for four baby back ribs! And a pizza. And burgers and dogs.
Edited on Sat May-19-07 09:24 PM by HughBeaumont
People are coming over. I'll get that sucker fired up at 9 AM and will be going for the restaurant quality, fall-off-the-bone thing, which I've been doing on a consistent basis since last year. I'm making a base BBQ sauce this weekend using standard ingredients, but tossing in Jack Daniels, Coke and Amaretto. Whole buncha stuff's getting thrown in that biznatch.

The pizza will be, of course, jgraz' astounding crust recipe (found here: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/jgraz/8 ), which will turn this into a virtual Dinner Impossible, but I love challenges.
