Yes, New Hampshire is weird
Years ago, Steven King said that New Hampshire gave him the creeps. This sort of thing explains why:

GILMANTON – Fast and Dash, two steers that were slaughtered for beef last weekend, are still making their presence known on a dirt road near the spot where Bailey, a 9-month-old family beagle, was hit and killed by a speeding car last winter.

Their severed heads and hides have been placed on opposite sides of Potter Road near the same spot where the Potter family's pet was killed, along with cardboard signs imploring drivers to slow down.

1. Not sure what headless steers have to do with dead Beagles
But you're right - New Hampshire is a strange place. I lived there off and on since I grew up across the river in Vermont and sometimes worked in NH. The two places are completely different in many ways. New Hampshire is just plain wierd at times.

5. VT and NH
Vermont is annoying in a touchy-feely, earth mother, Ben & Jerry's, granola sort of way.

New Hampshire is a different story. Most folks live in the edge cities, suburbs and exurbs between Manchester and Porttsmouth down to Plaistow and Salem. But there are still some pockets of high strangeness in the outlying areas. And of course, there's Seabrook, home to everything that has been zoned out of the rest of the state (tattoo parlors, peep shows, fireworks stands, and the nuclear plant).

I always thought that Larry, Darryl and My Other Brother Darryl from "Newhart" were really from across the river in New Hampshire.

9. Seabrook is amateur strange.
Come to Weirs (Weirdo) Beach during Biker Weekend; that's deeply, genetically altered states strange. John Carpenter would flip out.

14. Oh snap!
I am a Mainiac by birth and I endorse that assessment.
New Hampshire has some weird "Live Free or Die" stuff going on that puzzles the folks in the neighboring states.

3. Of course it's weird. Seven months of wintah and
three months of mud season will do that. Think about it BlueDog, when was the last time you saw the sun?

6. Was it everything they say it can be?

11. Try me!
I grew up 10 miles west of Seabrook and 10 miles south of Raymond! That's a Bermuda Triangle of oddballs in knit caps and flannel shirts if ever there was one
