Poll question: 1974 - the death of the liberal revolution? |
|
Witness:
"All in the Family" starts losing its edge and becomes more of a typical sitcom and starts straying from politicizing.
The final "Planet of the Apes" movie (1974) tries to make things neat and cozy for all involved, which is a shame because it creates a big paradox in terms of continuity! Whoops...
"Happy Days", the first of many TV shows to try to get people to not think and instead make them long for 'the simple life' that was our past. Also add in "Little house on the prarie", "the waltons", and a whole slew of other mindrot shows...
Music lost its political edge and became more thoughtless pop. While that isn't bad, we need a constant balance. (and corporate america today, realizing their mistake, is keen on avoiding anything requiring thought and awareness.)
Do you agree? (and elaborate!)
