Dear Major Fucking League Baseball:
Would you kindly explain to me why the hell the Dodgers play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as many times as they play some ball clubs in their own fucking league?!?

Also, since you apparently plan to continue this jingoistic practice of having "God Bless America" performed during the seventh-inning stretch, please inform ball clubs' radio affiliates that they needn't "stay here" for said jingoistic practice, or, if they do, they should also "stay here" for "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

Yours very fucking sincerely,

A long-time fan whose gruntle is being tested

2. Arghhhh I hate when they play "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch
IMHO it's more "American" to play Take Me Out to the Ballgame. That's a slice of pure Americana, not this faux post-9/11 jingoistic bull crap! I'm dreading when the Mets go to Yankee Stadium this year, no doubt they'll bring out that stupid Irish tenor and that damn eagle for the 7th inning...and now that I know they lock the fans inside the aisles during it...well...it angers me even more

6. That is FUCKED UP.
Remind me, when I finally make it to Yankee Stadium, to get up midway through the top of the 7th and stay out until after the stretch!

8. We just spent part of the afternoon explaining to DH's
Australian boss and guests why Major League Baseball insists on continuing "God Bless America" when the national anthem is already sung before the game starts. We don't get the Irish tenor and the eagle at Seattle's Safeco Field, but we're still getting the jingoistic crap...

Julie

p.s. Did I mention that the Mariners lost?

9. The Mets lost too tonight
:( I guess a sweep of the Yankees is asking for too much. At Shea, they play "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and then follow it up with the Lou Monte song "Lazy Mary"...so the stretch has a decidedly Italian feel to it

What a friggin' dump.*
I sat in the Time Warner Cable seats for the Fox Network Mets-Yanks game in 2005.

It didn't help.

Time to tear down that "Temp Field"... FWIW..the National Tennis Center needs the parking lot, anyway.

Just kiddin', Rev!

17. It sucked, man
We had guys on base when the batter freaking struck out during the last play of the game. Then again, I can't even remember who was up to bat. :scared:

The pre-and-post game was a blast, though. The Australians certainly have embraced the microbreweries here in a big way ;-).

a)how can that possibly be legal? b) how can that possibly be safe? c) I was going to go to a game in the next couple weeks but now I'm boycotting -- nobody locks Baby in her seat (to paraphrase badly)

ETA-- by safe I mean that's got to violate fire codes and shit sitting ducks for the gazillions of ter'ists waiting to kill us for our way of life

and it's 4 am so cut me some slack for not being coherent

"Take Me Out to the Ballgame" is the traditional song.

Hotdogs and beer is the traditional eats.

Let's hear it for them Brooklyn Dodgers!
