it is not paining me right now...but I have to go get a crown...
I know why...I clench my teeth and I crunch and munch on hard stuff on that side of my mouth...
Now I have to get an appliance to wear at night and I have to stop crunching...

but thanks for the hug...
when I am stressed...I will wake up with my jaw feeling like it was clamped down all night... when I am not stressed...no problems..
I am just happy to find out what is wrong with my tooth...and that it can be fixed.

3. I clench my jaw in my sleep, as well--totally stress-related. |
|
I balked at the very expensive appliance they wanted me to get, however, and use the over-the-counter Night Guard you can find in a drugstore. It has helped IMMENSELY.

4. I may have to check out that Night Guard.. |
|
I have dental insurance but if it is really too expensive the Night Guard may be a good idea...

6. btw, mine's not TMJ--some folks (like me) just clench or grind in their sleep. |
|
TMJ is a totally different thing (my mom has it), and involves more than just clenching your teeth in your sleep.
It's a horrible feeling when you wake up and feel the fatigue from having clenched so hard--it also gave me horrible headaches, and the Night Guard has pretty much put an end to that. Make sure you wear it after you get the crown--I damaged a tooth with a crown so badly (because of clenching my jaw in my sleep) that the tooth became irritated, then absessed. Worse pain I've ever had in my LIFE.

that can be very painful and hard to deal with.
Definitely look into a mouthguard of some sort. And get that molar fixed ASAP. I walked around with a cracked molar for almost a year and really wish I would've fixed it sooner.

for the past 6 years or so. The problem is, I don't see an end to it anytime soon. :banghead:
