I don't know if I'd be posting now.

I was coming home after visiting a friend, within the city, when someone almost broadsided me - one of those pickup trucks the size of a house. I had to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid it - luckily, there was none at that moment.

As it was 'during rush hours', any other Monday I'd have been sandwiched between two vehicles. :scared:

It was obvious that the other driver was winded a bit, too - they stopped by the side of the road for a bit.

I'm still kind of shaking, a few hours later. Normally, I just brush it off, but this one could have been very bad indeed.

Any hugs would be appreciated.

Some of my ancestors came from Scotland, but were turned away at the port of New York for some reason. They went up into Canada, which let them in. Then they sneaked down through upstate New York. They lived there for a time, while the men fought in the Civil War, and were then given 40 acres in central Illinois and their citizenship.

Yes, I have illegal immigrant blood. I just wonder why they didn't want to stay in Canada.

Anyway, it looks like tomorrow's a work day for me. Thanks for the effort, though.

I'm glad you're OK.

We camped in Banff this weekend, and were caught in traffic jams both directions because of accidents. The one today we didn't see, got off the hiway early, but the one on Friday rather shook us up. An SUV and trailer had both flipped, the car landing upside down and looking really squashed. I watched the paper, though, and there was no mention of this so it must not have been as bad as it looked, thank goodness.

We had a nice weekend, anyway. Good to get away for a while. Looks like we will be hitting Edmonton end of July now, we want to go to Oregon again first thing in July.

Wow, those are some awful sounding accidents. A flipped vehicle can look pretty scary, but as you said, sometimes it's not as bad as it seems. This winter I saw a flipped SUV and stopped; and found all the occupants shaken, but safe. I couldn't believe anyone made it out of that one alive.

I'm glad you had a good time in Banff. I hope you had better weather than we did...typical May long weekend weather. At least yesterday salvaged it (though Saturday evening was good, too).

Let me know when you're coming up, I may let you take me for coffee. :P

It was pretty cool and rainy over the weekend, and this morning we woke up to snow. I got kinda soaked trying to dump the slush off the awning. It was still nice, though, a miserable weekend of camping still beats hell out of a great week at work. Which is about to end anyway, bit of a story there, but I still have one more 5 AM morning tomorrow, so I have to get to bed.

I'm still flyin' high from my Power Weekend. On Saturday night I performed my big solo with my choir. Huge success, lots of adulation. I loved it. :D

On Sunday I achieved a Personal Best on my bicycle, by riding my longest and fastest ride ever in an organized century ride I'd signed up for a while ago: 105.02 miles, 6305 ft of climbing, in a little less than 7hrs and 10 min. :wow:

Today I'm still tired, but really happy. :hi: I'm takin' it easy for most of the week, that's for sure.
