Man Leaves Girlfriend In Car On Tracks To Kill Her - Train Hits Car - Car Falls On Man - She Lives
<snip>

A CALIFORNIA man who tried to kill his girlfriend by leaving her in a car parked across railway lines was himself killed when an oncoming train hurled the car into him as he fled.

His girlfriend survived, the Associated Press reported.

The man drove the car to the head of a line of traffic stopped at a level crossing in the San Fernando Valley neighbourhood of Sunland on Monday, police spokesman Mike Lopez said.

The man, who was seen arguing with the woman, then parked the car on the tracks and jumped out, leaving her behind, Mr Lopez said.

A 450-tonne commuter train hit the rear of the car, launching it into the man.

The girlfriend, who was injured , was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

"She gets hit by a train and lives. He gets hit by his own car and he dies,'' Mr Lopez said.

No one aboard the train, which was carrying 132 passengers and crew, was injured, a Metrolink spokeswoman said.

4. Not just Karma, but INSTANT Karma,
What an asshole. in addition to attempted premeditated murder of his girlfriend he put the people on the train (passengers and crew) plus the surrounding people (if any) at very considerable risk.

That's an almost impressive level of sociopathy.

Thank goodness it was just him.

7. Imagine though the distress he caused the train engineer
and the other people who witnessed it. He may not have killed anyone but himself but imagine the post-traumatic shock for the engineer and the people who witnessed it.

12. What a douche
a few years ago, several passengers on a Metrolink train were killed when someone else parked his car on the tracks, possibly thinking (?) to commit "suicide by train".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glendale_train_crash

The Glendale train crash was the deadliest incident in the history of Metrolink, the commuter railroad in the Los Angeles, California, area. Eleven people died in the January 26, 2005 incident at 6:03 AM PST next to a Costco warehouse store on the Glendale-Los Angeles boundary in an industrial area, north of downtown Los Angeles. Two Metrolink passenger trains and a Union Pacific freight train were involved in the collision, which occurred about half a mile south of downtown Glendale. Both passenger trains were double-deck commuter trains, one northbound on the Antelope Valley Line from Los Angeles Union Station, the other southbound on the Ventura County Line into the same station. One train overturned, and the other caught fire.

The incident is notable for its magnitude, involving two passenger trains, a freight train, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee abandoned on the tracks by Juan Manuel Alvarez. Authorities initially said Alvarez was planning to commit suicide and charged him with 11 counts of murder with "special circumstances." Police say recent investigations indicate Alvarez may have intended to cause the crash without committing suicide. Authorities have filed additional charges against him for murder with intent.

And now this. We may be looking at Falwell's new roomie here...
