Linux Geeks -- anybody out there have advice for video capture boards?
I'm looking to get one, and start burning DVD's sometime in the near future.

Please share any wisdom!

1. I don't have a kernel source tree handy
And I couldn't find an online compatibility list. The bottom line is, you want a capture card compatible with the Video4Linux subsystem.

But you are into compiling kernels might want to co into make menuconfig and look at the "Multimedia" or "Video for Linux" section and see what hardware is available.

Disclaimer: I never worked with video capture.

2. Get a FireWire card, and a camcorder that accepts video input
Works for me.

4. I already have a camcorder.
Which only has the standard S-video or RCA-type video jack.

So, I'm hoping the video capture board is all I need now.
