He Ain't Heavy - He's My Brother (talk about breaking my heart!)
Last night was the final Choir concert for CFHS class of 2007. As if that wasn't heart-breaking enough they performed the following song:

http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/ainthvy.htm

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

So on we go
His welfare is my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

Bridge:
If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with gladness
And love for one another

It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

He's my brother
He ain't heavy, He's my brother

1. I LOVE that song...
and what a great prom picture. Is your son graduating? That's such a bittersweet, emotional time, isn't it?

4. Yes, he's graduating this weekend.
I just told a friend that this is worse than birth because at birth you know that you have their whole lives ahead of you, graduation is a recap of 18 years and a farewell - then they have their whole lives ahead of them!

He has both physical and mental disabilities (was born w/spina bifida) and is graduating with his peers with a regular diploma! He has busted his butt to get where he is and I am SO PROUD!!

Can you see now why that damn song just broke my heart last night??

5. Thank you, it is awesome!
(I'm a little partial to Neil Diamond's version but the original is always class!)

7. Thank you! Not the best pic of the two of them, just heading in to
the restaurant for dinner - but the only one I have on my computer since a friend emailed it to us. :hi:

8. Thanks, this is their second prom
Since his gf is a Junior this year (they host prom) she got to pick out his tux and the flowers - the theme was A Night to Remember and had a Paris kind of atmosphere (with the colors of Black/Gold/Clear - their studio photos look awesome!). My son's class colors are Black/Red so that is why she went with those. Worked well for both of them.
