41. That lake is actually Back Cove.
On the far shore is a public park space along Baxter Blvd. Back Cove is one of those reclamation jewels. Forty years ago it was so polluted you wouldn't want to get near the edge.

I remember you asking for ideas on your New England trip --- glad to hear you made it to Ptld.

It makes sense to develop that area because it's got good highway and waterfront access and the views from any building over three stories will be quite amazing. I guess the way won't be so marginal anymore.

127. I like both cities.
Dallas has a little of the cosmopolitan flair, and Ft. Worth is just plain fun. I've done the rodeo, and I love Sundance Square on a weekend. The gardens in Ft. Worth are great, so are the museums I'm still checking out. There's a lot to do here, or you can just relax on your patio for a quiet evening.

I've tended to favor Ft Worth more. I lived in Phoenix for several years in the early 80s, and Ft Worth reminds more of that than Dallas does.

85. Yes, I really have suffered "culture shock" in some respects.
Most of the people I work with are conservative if not Republican and I generally don't talk politics at work. I have signed up with the local Democratic committee but I haven't gotten too involved yet. I believe there are pockets of progressives around here, especially in the city of Richmond itself, but I've been spending most of my time at work so I haven't made too many connections. I plan to go to the local Unitarian church to try to meet some other like minded people eventually. Hope you're enjoying Germantown. Hope you get involved in keeping it blue!

151. Boyds is a "trendy" name for a part of Germantown...
Thats on the side of 118 near the Soccerplex. One friend of mine lives near it and her address is Boyds. Another friend lives literally accross the street off of 118 (near Kingsview Middle School) and thats listed as Germantown.
Wish I could say I know you, but unlikely since I have no kids. I have a friend in Damascus though that you may know (who is also an ex-terp and at one time I thought you might be her...):)

I can't find enough pictures to do it justice. It really is beautiful and a great place to see in person.

Annapolis, capital of the state of Maryland, has the oldest state capital building still in use in the U.S. It was completed in 1779, and actually served as the capital of the United States for 9 months after the end of the Revolutionary War. It was here that the new U.S. Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris, officially ending the War of Independence with Great Britian. The nation's 1st president, George Washington, was here.
