How the hell am I supposed to cut JackMN's hair? |
|
He has a massive complex about having his head touched. If I tried to get him to hold still so I could actually CUT it, well, it wouldn't happen.
I tried to trim his bangs tonight, before his preschool graduation program. This involved me wrapping my legs around his arms and upper body and trying to pin him long enough to snip his hair out of his eyes. He screamed and flailed, his arms got loose, and I almost cut his hand. I also said the F word.
I still REALLY need to cut the rest, but he won't hold still! If I try to do it while he's asleep, he wakes up. I can't distract him. What the heck do I do? He looks awful.

He doesn't *get* bribery, yet. There is also nothing on earth more appealing to him than NOT getting his hair cut. :banghead:

I had to take my son to the hairdresser, sit in the chair with him in a huge bear hug and hold on for dear life while he fought like a tiger.
It was either that or buy a seeing-eye dog for a 2 year old. He had gorgeous blonde locks but it was getting to be a problem.
After that first time he never fought again. He's now 19 and buzzes his own hair and can't stand it to get very long at all.

6. put him in a place where he can look in the mirror |
|
....such as a chair in front of the bathroom vanity. Then you stand behind him and snip it from behind. That usually works.
Or you have his favorite movie on a screen while you work.

some salon folks are really good at convincing kids who hate the whole thing, to have their hair cut...
good luck.

8. Awww, just let him have long hair |

I swear it's not going to hurt anything. It's preschool graduation, not a job interview.
