I just watch 6 episodes of How Clean Is Your House from BBC America, I will never say I have dirty
house again.

You might now want to eat while watching this show.

I love the two women on the show.

2. I have cable.
This show is worth a watch.

I don't how anyone could live like that.

I feel really sorry for the clean up crew having to shovel and clean up those awful rooms.

If you like watching Clean House you will like this show.

3. I've seen that show.

It's very scary.

They sent the dirt and microbes out to be tested.

I don't need to know what they have in their kitchen. Just get rid of it.

:scared:

4. I am watching one episode right now.
The woman hadn't cleaned in ten years, and cat fur is everyway along with other cat things.

5. Lovely.
I don't know how people live like that.

It freaks me out, and I'm not that neat.

6. There are several more episodes to see but they couldn't be worse then this one.
You should see what came out of the carpet.

Forget about the kitchen.

7. Are you trying to give me nightmares?
I kid.

It really does makes you feel better about your own house after watching just one house, but I clean on a semi-regular basis.

8. I do need to wash a few dishes and put away some things but I have never
been that bad.

This woman seemed to be proud of her home, she didn't care how dirty it was.

I felt sorry for the cats.

9. Poor kitties, indeed.
I'm sure they have been shedding trying to get out of the house because of the filth.

14. Some of those people have piles and piles of junk and debris
all over the room so that the room has become essentially unusable.

Some of the rooms on that show look like they've literally crusted over with dirt, dust, filth.

Can't imagine having a toddler or baby in the midst of such a place, and believe me I'm not a neat freak, but I do have common decency (for lack of a better term).

15. The couple was just weeks away from having another baby.
This show proves that people can stand being around germs.

I know someone who has a house like this, it is so bad she moved out and is living with her kids.

The house is for sale, I don't know who would buy it.

I think that the house or apartment just gets so dirty that the people don't know where to start to clean up.

I don't know where we would start at this house, the whole house is just:scared:

17. I think there were 3 cats.
The woman could have made more cats with all the fur that was in the house.

Especially this time of year when they start shedding bigtime. I vacuum every day; I have to OR ELSE this is cat hair city.

19. I've never watched it
I don't think I want to now. My own house disgusts me and it's not really dirty - it's cluttered and dusty and that's bad enough.

20. Sounds like it's about incurable packrats.
My mom was one of those. Wouldn't throw anything away. Wouldn't let anybody else throw anything away.

I've spent the last four years trying to clean out the house and sell the furniture after I threw out about 200 trash bags full of useless trash.

22. I think there's got to be a degree of mental illness in these people
I don't know if it's denial or hoarding or just something that makes them paralyzed from doing something. I am not generally a very neat person and I know it can be a struggle to keep ahead of stuff but that stuff is pretty unbelievable. There was one episode with a woman who had wads of gum stuck on nearly every surface of her house. The only episode I ever saw where the person didn't let them back in their house for a follow up. I sincerely hope that after the humiliation of being on that show and all the effort to get it back to shape that these people are able to get it under control. I honestly wonder if perhaps a bit of therapy shouldn't go along with the whole process.

I've never seen the British version but I had heard that it's more about helpful hints and less about grossing people out.

23. god, I need to send them to my dad's house
I'm not sure he's ever cleaned it. Seriously. He turned the heat on once (he lives in FL) for us because it was "chilly" (45°) and it spewed out so much stuff that it gave my wife and I horrible allergic reactions.

24. I never have seen it
My sister went with her church youth group to work with an organization that does that for the poor and deperate. Ten years before, he had lost his only daughter in a car accident. His wife ended up leaving shortly after that. He suffered alone, leaving the house only to work part time at a pizza delivery chain and buy what he needed to survive. He did not clean during that time either. He finally got help and having people come and clean out his house was part of that help. My sister said that there were whole rooms of garbage. He has even had a pet bird for a while. The bird died and its bones were still in the house along with bird droppings.
