Anybody go to their 10 year High School Reunion?
I just got an email saying that we are having ours this summer. I'm toying with the idea of going...but then I saw all the myspace pages of my fellow classmates and it made me realized that everyone I would want to see again probably won't be there, and everyone I hated will be.

There is only a very small handful of people I would even be interested in talking to, but if I could reconnect with them it might make the whole thing worthwhile.

What do you guys think about reunions?

2. I went to both my 10th and 20th reunions. Gawd, am I really that old?
they each had their own distinct vibe. I was newly in love with my man (now my husband) at the time and happy/proud to show him off and introduce him to anyone and everyone. It was a good time and we had a lot of fun.

The 20th was much cheesier.

I don't know if I'd go to another one.

This year would be my 25th, come to think of it and I haven't heard a damn thing. Hmmmmm....do I really care?

I think not.

:hi: Have fun if you go, though. They're always worth a good laugh or two. It's fun to trip down Memory Lane....

3. I went...

to my 21st reunion (my class was, and is fucked up, we'll never have a proper reunion, btw, I graduated in 1978). I absolutely hated it. The music was so loud you couldn't speak to one another...I guess, the popular kids were comfortable on the dance floor. I'd have to have A LOT of incentive to go to the next one.

on edit: my mother goes to her reunion yearly (they're dieing off fast)...in fact, she moved back to her hometown a year ago...and lives to reunite with her old classmates! On the other hand, I just live to go forward...fuck the past, particularly anything beyond the last 5 years!

10. I'd say...
Don't go, unless your ego is so dependent on the "possible" admiration you may get. Otherwise, skip it. I went because my mom wanted me to go, she lives and dies for her reunions...it was a friggin' nightmare for me AND my husband. However, high school wasn't anything special for either of us, so go figure! We were prodigy of parents who had their best years in their teens, yet we became individuals in our 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond! We're still evolving, and not wondering if our high school classmates are with us.

4. I went to my 10th and 20th. I had a blast at both of them.
I went to a small high school and we had a really tight class -- I still keep in touch with quite a few of my friends and we always get together whenever we get a chance.

9. Ten was sucky, the 20th was so-so, but 30th was a total blast!
Hey, you got to go to the early ones so you can really appreciate the good ones when you, and your classmates are ready for a genuine reunion.

11. Nope. I hated high school. And the one person I would like to see probably wouldn't
go anyway. I have no idea where she lives nowdays.

I made many more friends in college anyway.

13. Went to my 10th; missed my 20th and 30th.
The 10th HS reunion was actually a lot of fun. I had moved to Seattle by then (went to school in Springfield, Oregon, which is next to Eugene). One of the best things was seeing how many of the "uncool" people had gotten cool over the years, and how many of the "cool" (read: snobby) ones had gone downhill!

I know, I know; I'm being snarky, but still, I enjoyed it!

15. I noticed a lot of that too.
Still, some uncool ones were still uncool.

16. I'd rather engage my penis in a wrestling match with an unhappy ferret
than attend any high-school reunions. And it's not that I hated high school or suffered any major adolescent trauma during those years. It's that the Terminally Cool Kidz from years gone by are the ones planning the reunions, and both my 10th and 20th reunions were centered around two things: activities for the kids and golf. Since Mrs. Rat and I are childless and hate golf, the choice was easy.

17. No, didn't go to my 10 yr, 20 yr, or 30 yr.

High school wasn't a happy time for me, so I didn't go to reunions.
