I would have to say those books sent me in a different direction than I was going before, and gave the halucinogens a purpose :P
but it was a temporary thing. I never quite 'stopped the world(?)' - is that the term? I got close a couple times, and it sort of freaked me out. Some things I understood, and there is still some residual influence, but I got distracted or chickened out or something, and wandered away from that.
