A discussion on the Sopranos (possible Spoiler for those who have not seen last week yet)

Last nilght I watched the Sopranos from the previous week and while recapping the episode with my wife talked about the scene where Tony punched out the guy who made lewd comments to his daughter. My wife could not believe that a man who would have sex with many different woman would feel so strongly about someone disrepecting his daughter.

I told him that Tony does not disrespect these woman (they all seem to be willing partners. She said she was shocked at my analysis.

Whereas Coco's attentions to Meadow were unwanted, unreciprocated, and definitely designed to provoke a response in Tony.

6. I think we're on the same page, but I don't doubt that Tony probably sees women

in general as either madonnas or whores, and that may be where your wife gets the idea that Tony doesn't respect women. The "whores" in this scenario are willing whores, of course. But Carmela and Meadow are definitely madonnas, and not to be messed with, as anyone in the mob would know.

7. Tony has sex with grown women

who are willing partners. I don't remember Tony making a sexist remark, actually. While his problems are within his marriage vows, I don't think Tony disrespects women. He would have never done or say what was said to his daughter. He wanted to kill a school coach after he found out that he was sleeping with under aged girls. HIs wife and daughter stopped him on that one.

The disrespectfully man on this group is Paulie. He has lots of issues. Telling Christopher his baby daughter will be working at the Bing in a few years crossed too many lines.

I have no problem with what Tony did. Lucky he didn't kill him.
