1. Anywhere
Edited on Thu May-24-07 10:09 AM by skygazer
I love to travel by train. Though it's not what it used to be. And "Leaving (leaving) on that midnight train to anywhere (leaving on a midnight train)" doesn't really have the right ring.

2. although it's one quite wonderful gladys night and the pips song
and i rather enjoy the sentiment it expresses:

L.A. proved too much for the man,
So he's leavin' the life he's come to know,
He said he's goin' back to find
Ooh, what's left of his world,
The world he left behind
Not so long ago.
He's leaving,
On that midnight train to Georgia,
And he's goin' back
To a simpler place and time.
And I'll be with him
On that midnight train to Georgia,
I'd rather live in his world
Than live without him in mine.
He kept dreamin'
That someday he'd be a star.
But he sure found out the hard way
That dreams don't always come true.
So he pawned all his hopes
and he even sold his old car
Bought a one way ticket
To the life he once knew,
Oh yes he did,
He said he would
Be leavin
On that midnight train to Georgia,
And he's goin' back
To a simpler place and time.
And I'll be with him
On that midnight train to Georgia,
I'd rather live in his world
Than live without him in mine.
Go, gonna board, gonna board,
Gonna board the midnight train.
Gotta go, gonna board
Gonna board
Gonna board the midnight train
(repeat, fade)

Metra Union Pacific west line goes there. But I'll take an earlier train, because midnight is WAAY past my bedtime these days.

or are they two different animals.

i got into a heated discussion with an oak parker about this once.

they want nothing to do with the taint of berwyn.

10. I am not real familiar with north Berwyn...
And though south Oak Park isn't the historic district, Berwyn does have a reputation that Oak Park probably prefers not to be associated with.

I'm still a Far North Sider at heart. Always will be.

12. They're building condos....
everywhere they can. Or converting older buildings. You'd be amazed at all the condos being built downtown. I don't know where all the people with enough $$$ to buy them come from.

13. last i read they replaced close to 94,000 rental apartment units
with close to 120,000 or so condo units in the city of chicago.

i hardly even recognize it anymore. they should call it naperville.

20. That's one shitload of condos....
I rarely get downtown anymore, but spent last Saturday at Navy Pier. Downtown has changed so much since I last worked there in 1995 that I think I could easily get lost.
