Road food
Here's is the site for you home cooked food.
http://roadfood.com/

Let me list my favorites. They will be in Nashville Tn Paris Ky, and Louisville Ky.
Some of my favorites are not listed, Ramsey's, Bar B Cutie, and Alfalfa.

The best meat in three ever. This is in Nashville.

Pancakes? My wife used to work here as cashier. Are your favorite country star getting fat? This is why.

Another fine meat and three.

Now for Louisville. I know the owner, but I can be objective in saying this place rocks!
http://roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=117 Check out the picture of the Hot Brown. Now you know why kentuckians die young.

Want to pay homage to the cheese burger? Go to its birthplace.

Here's where I went back when dad had to drive us there.
http://roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=3501 Love the frog legs and the platter.

Here's where I ate when I delivered mail on City Route 1, Paris Ky.

OK folks, look over the site, see if your favorite eatery is there. Sadly there are no Lexington Ky restaurants are listed. We have become a place to go for good small restaurants and deli's. Third Street Stuff has fine soups and sandwiches.

1. what the heck is a "meat and three"?
sounds like either an interesting date or a little bit disgusting. I pictured things like the Turducken.

8. I think it is a term used mostly in the southeast, or just the
area around Tennessee.

10. I grew up in rural Kentucky and lived in Florida
but for the past decade and a half, I've been one of "those" people who would rather just eat the side dishes. The reason I said my dad would know is because he seems to have BBQ joint frequent flier miles.

:)

4. I found one I like
They have the best steaks I've ever eaten. I've eaten higher priced steaks in fancier restaurants but not any better.

Cattlemen's Steak House in OKC
http://roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=160

Cattlemen's Steak House is in the middle of Stockyard City, home of the largest stocker/feeder cattle market in the world where weekly auctions are held. It's not far from downtown OKC business district. So during lunch you will see a table of cowboys in hats, boots & jeans sitting next to a table of businessmen in 3 piece suits.

9. Have you ever been to The Perfect Pig? It is west of
Nashville.

For more upscale, I loved Green Hills Diner. If I wanted to get funky, Brown's Diner is the place to go for a beer and burger, then slip outside with a member of a famous duet to smoke a joint in Freidmans (sp) parking lot.

14. Vegeburgers!
Best vegeburgers in the state! Located in south St. Helena

http://www.taylorsrefresher.com/

And, for the more carniverously inclined among us

"The Hiway 29 Cafe" on Highway 29 between American Canyon and Napa

it's not listed in "Road Food"...However; it has the best cafe/diner type breakfast in the area:

Sausage
Bacon
Steak
Biscuits and gray
Pork Chops
Hash Browns
Eggs
Pancakes....etc. etc.

This place has been in business for 35 years. The owners of the business has always come from the inside.

The barefoot girl on the left front row, went on to be one of the top young businesswomen in America. She now owns Lynn's Paradise Cafe. A review is in the OP.

An Alfalfa favorite:

Pancake Sandwhich

Only for the truly adventurous; two of our buckwheat pancakes stacked with choice of sausage, bacon and either city or country ham then topped with one egg any style.
