So what else can you cook in a rice cooker?
Bought a 20-cup rice cooker yesterday because my dogs destroyed my stove, and the mama dog insists on her raw beef with cooked brown rice and steamed veggies - she has turned down every type of kibble, even premium organic brands, and wants real food. So now I can make rice for her again, and the instructions say I can also use this device to steam vegetables.

What else can one cook in a rice cooker? Lentils? Noodles?

1. I've never tried it before, but...
the attached website has some different recipes designed for the rice cooker. Here it is: http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbook.php?bookid=80457

I have a rice cooker/steamer combo; so, I've only steamed veggies with my rice.

2. Cool, thanks for the link! :)
I reserved the suggested book at the library right away, too. Am trying to get away from the microwave/pre-packaged stuff again.

4. Stove is broken...
...as mentioned in the original post. And brown rice takes a lot longer to cook than white or instant, so I needed something to cook it with. Now I'm looking for ways to use this device for more than one type of food.

5. Puppies and Kitties.
Secure the lid 'cause the little buggers get pretty energetic when they are being scalded.
