3. very nice
Nothing better than freshly-picked tomatoes in the summer time. I live on them in the summer, except last year they were a little sketchy for some reason.

19. wow, those are lovely
I live on tomato sandwiches in the summer.

Here is a sunflower one, it kind of makes me dizzy though because it's too fast, I wish I knew a way to slow some of them down (and some strawberries, too)

That looks like some 'good dirt' lol. The dirt around here sucks, this used to be used car lot and it is so rocky the dirt is awful.

Actually the soil is mostly clay. I had to work in a ton of good store bought soil. It is also full of gravel rocks because up until recently, the front walkway to the house was gravel. The garden is along the front of the house.

8. I'm not brave enough
to attempt a garden, but I bought these for a beautiful woman. :loveya:

I am going to see how long I can keep them alive.

Just a test. I will not name the flower nor will I talk to it. That way when it dies I'm only out the 2-3 dollars.

:)

If you are going to have a plant, have a beautiful one. You won't talk to it, but I'm sure Violet knows that you have taken her photo and are talking about her on the internet and showing her off to all your friends. ;)

Edited on Sun May-27-07 09:18 AM by Maestro
they would not feast on the sunflowers. We have sunflowers in our garden but they are not bothered by a plethora of finches. We have seed out for them, though.

43. I mispoke, the are Chickadees, not Goldfinches.
Your idea might work.
I need to find a feeder that doves can't use,
as there are hundreds of
doves that so far haven't entered the garden.

20. Wow! I wish I could that! Thanks, Ptah!
There are two things I'd love to shoot. One would be the huge ravens that live in Golden Gate Park on the beach side. They're humunglous and own this joint.

The other is a grass I just found. It has little, wheat- colored pods that look like elongated hearts, about half an inch long. I have no idea what it is but it looks like it's from another planet. :)

In the early seventies I frequently went to Golden Gate Park.

I find a lot of stuff that looks otherworldly

Budding saguaro being one example

25. Look at that! I've been walking the path twice a day for months
with the puppy and am finding all kinds of great things I never "saw" before. Like the statice at the corner of Lincoln and The Great Highway. Can't find an image but there are maybe 12 of these plants. They have huge, green ruffled leaves at their base -- maybe three feet across. Then, long tall stalks topped with purple flowerets and those have little white "eyes". They look like Lilies of the Nile from Mars. And a ranger tells me that corner is all landfill and these guys were the only things that survived of the original planting. They're lovely.

I CANNOT have another hobby, lol, but it sure would be nice to be able to key some stuff out and / or get images. The park is a great place, buffalo and all. :)
