In what year did "the modern age" start? |

I'll say 1969, because I have seen the phrase, "Founded in 1969,..." so many times in the past couple of years that it feels almost everything that is well-established and flourishing started in that year. What do you think and why?

With the death of Elizabeth I and accession of James I/VI.
Another widely cited view with a more general currency than purely English concerns is 1492 and Columbus' voyage across the Atlantic.
