7. let me give you a thumbnail sketch:
Salt: humans can't live without it, comes out of the ground or saline waters, used as a form of currency in ancient times, stings in a cut or the eyes.

May be rhetorically "rubbed into a wound" to cause extra pain...
Abandoned salt mines make excellent storage facilities for all the things our government doesn't want us to see.

Hope this helps...

:D

11. right, some history on Gandhi vs. the British gov't salt tax
In 1930 in order to help free India from British control, Mahatma Gandhi proposed a non-violent march protesting the British Salt Tax, continuing Gandhi's pleas for civil disobedience. The Salt Tax essentially made it illegal to sell or produce salt, allowing a complete British monopoly. Since salt is necessary in everyone's daily diet, everyone in India was affected. The Salt Tax made it illegal for workers to freely collect their own salt from the coasts of India, making them buy salt they couldn't really afford.

12. I coulda warned you
don't bet on an inside straight.

Also it's better to bet with things you can afford to lose, like little green pieces of paper instead of valuable things like books.
