That almost happened to a little gosling while I was driving home yesterday, but it made its way onto the meridian just ahead of the Tahoe.

7. I saw a dead deer on the shoulder of I-94 in DT St Paul last weekend
Not too far from the state capitol, actually. It was strange to see it right in the middle of downtown.

A couple of years ago, they had a deer break into the basement of the capitol through a window, so I guess it's not unprecedented. It's still sad though.

16. It is sad. We once had a deer wander into our backyard in a rather urban
area. We're taking they're space. I think they want it back. :(

9. Somebody got a squirrel on an interstate exit near me
The poor thing had been hit but not killed by a car in front of me and was flopping around. I was able to swerve and avoid it (I think, I didn't hear anything) but as I was driving off I saw it stop moving. For a split second I thought about putting him out of his misery but figured maybe he was just dazed so didn't hit him.

23. This will make you feel better.
Sometimes these things end just how you would like.

We plucked this little guy from the middle of a busy bridge during morning rush hour. And when I say the middle of the bridge, I mean the middle: dead center of the bridge and huddling between the double yellow lines (with cars going past him, inches away, at 40-50 m.p.h.). When we passed him, he looked up at me, so I blocked traffic with my car and ran out to grab the little guy (I held him aloft so all of the pissed-off commuters understood why this nut was running across the bridge during morning rush hour). He saw the vet two hours later - a scrape on the nose and nothing else. He passed all his tests, so he go to home and live with his brother Tate and his sister Hannah.

36. I love it when I see stuff like that.
:)

This morning a squirrel had darted out on the street (while I was taking WannaB to the stop), made it 3/4's across the street and then did the squirrel "turn around and run back" maneuver. It was funny.
