1. how did that critter get in your house?
I was once feeding a stray on my back porch, and found a skunk eating from the dish one night... but IN THE HOUSE?????

YIKES!!!

2. I think it just opened the porch door,
at least that is the way it went out. I have a window open for the cat, and some cruddy screens on another porch, but I think it just came in the door.

The cat doesn't seem to mind at all, but the dogs really hate skunks. And I really can't afford to feed it premium cat food. Life in the sticks!

14. If you have dogs...yeah hide the food
Cause if the dog gets the skunk upset...(and I know this from experience mind you) you are going to be having an interesting new aroma in house and on the dogs that lasts about 10 days or so!:hide:

21. Oh yes, I remember that post..
I just never realized skunks could be so bold! Personally I think your cats are pretty smart to avoid it. If I walked into a room and saw a skunk I don't think I would be going for the camera..I would be heading the OPPOSITE direction!!!:)

3. PRECIOUS
OMD *thumpthump
Skunks are the absolute cutest, Don't insult all skunkdom by putting them anywhere near repubs!
I wish I'd have one, it's kinda city around here though.

6. I solved our skunk problem
by putting the food bowls on the dryer. The skunks would always come in after dark and raid the cat food. One evening I nearly tripped over one. Another time I found one sharing the food bowl with one of our cats.

However, skunks can't climb on dryers so with the food bowl out of reach, the skunks stopped dropping by for meals.

12. they can climb a little ,but not well
I locked it on the porch for an hour or so while I surfed the tubes looking for some solution to the problem that would avoid a spray situation. It was climbing all over and knocking stuff down so I unlatched the door. I'm sure it will be back.

Will put the food away and haul the trash to the dump. I don't really mind it but would hate to have it let lose in the house. And not sure if it is litter box trained.

10. I had to stop leaving food out on the porch for the old neighborhood
tomcat that I feed for the same reason. It also attracted a lot of possums. The old tomcat had to learn to use the pet door I keep in a window (cats can jump up to it, but skunks and possums can't) so he could come inside and eat.

18. oh yeah I know
it was funny as hell - I think they don't see too well anyway, but I kind of blinded it turning on the light - it wandered into the living room and got a little huffy with the vacuum cleaner that was sitting in the middle of the floor. It rushed and skidded at it a couple of times before figuring out that it was not a danger. Wish I had a video of that part. All in all it was worth the 2:30 am "adventure" but I don't want too many more, if you know what I mean. Next thing I know it will be asleep on the bed with the (worthless) damn cat.

20. Wow. What a beautiful creature. Great pics!
But I'd start locking that door, if I was you!
If one of those goes off inside your house....
well, I don't even want to think about it.

22. I was in the hot tub once when one came to forage in my backyard
...got out reeeel fast! I didn't wanna end up filling the jacuzzi with tomato juice!!

However, someone told me that tom juice doesn't really work to deodorize that smell. Best not to have to test it at all!

PS...proof that even smelly things can be too adorable.
