Still haven't gotten my passport.
I applied for a new passport almost 2 months ago. I just checked on the status at travel.state.com...and I was told it's "currently being processed". The same message I've seen for 2 weeks now.

Does it take this long to get a passport?

2. I understand it will be like this for a long time
New passport requirements for Mexico and Canadian travel created huge backlogs earlier this year.

Where ya goin'?

3. Yup. It does.
When do you need it? I know some people who have been waiting for 13 - 14 weeks.

4. I have to get a new one before I fly in August, but since
I am in the middle of buying and selling a house, I needed to wait until knew what my new address was going to be.

I am going to have to suck up the "expedited" fees....

Good luck, I hope you get it soon!

5. it does now, my sister sent the wrong amount of $$ for her renewal, she sent
$30 too much because that was the fee amount the post office quoted her, instead of sending her renewed passport back to her with a $30 check they sent back all her paperwork requesting a check in the right amount. She also applied for her 2 daughters, it took 3 months to get them.

6. Due to new rules, yeah.
Need a passport to return from places that never needed them before - Canada, Caribbean. There's a rush for passports, so the govt is temporarily swamped.

It'll get better, return to more normal times, but for now it's a long wait.

Going somewhere?

:hi:

9. yes
it is taking quite sometime to process right now. I just took 30 college students to Europe and they all had difficulty in getting them in a timely manner. They all took over 2 months at a minimum.
