3. I love it. Absolutely LOVE IT.
But I can't stand the rolls. You can't taste the fish!

Sushi for me is all about the taste/texture experience.

15. Bento boxes are yummy!
I usually get the sushi one at this restaurant near my office. It comes w/shumai, rice, 3 or 4 CA roll pieces, and 4 pieces of sushi. Very filling! :9

I just can't. But then, I generally avoid any kind of seafood and it doesn't bother me if other people eat it. Couple of my kids absolutely love it.

17. I adore it!
Wash it down with a nice Japanese beer and you've got a meal.

We actually have a lovely sushi restaurant here in Chili Verde. Lupe's Sushi Casa. Lupe's a charming gal. Actually her name is Ashima. She moved here about 10 years ago after she married Jorge Valdez. They met while he was in Japan. It was love at first sight. They have three lovely children. Just beautiful.

our favorite neighborhood sushi place- midori on bryn mawr, is owned/operated by a korean woman and her caucasian american husband, and the head sushi chef is a mexican...it just seems like an odd combination.

:D :9

I love sushi and am becoming a sashimi convert. I'm thinking I could do without the rice, though I like all the other ingredients: avecado, ginger, et. al. I really love wasabi, love what it does to my sinuses. :D

edit: When I was a kid I really preferred shellfish to fish because I didn't like the way fish was cooked. Overdone, usually. Now, with sushi, I think it's the perfect way to eat fresh fish. :9

20. What's to freak out? It's just vinegared rice. Does she not like rice?
Unless something is put on it, sushi is about as tame as it gets, though not quite as tame as rice without vinegar.

25. Tell her I had raw horse - yes, raw horse, that's not a typo - sushi in Japan last year
See how she takes that.

:7

I loves me my raw fish, my urchin roe, my raw horse, my grilled urchin innards, my raw whale...

It's all yummy!

Except raw prawns and shrimp - the texture of those is like to make me want to vomit. I can't take it.

30. I love sushi, but I hate sushi rolls.
I have sushi at least twice a week at my local restaurant. I love all kinds of fish and, having lived in Japan for several years, can handle even the most...erm...challenging concoctions, but I just can't stand sushi rolls. Don't ask me why, maybe I was a California Roll in a previous life.

39. i like sashimi and nigiri - the rolls a little less
i'm more a fan of the raw fish, and less a fan of all the added stuff in the rolls. At my usual place, they serve a good house salad with this wonderful ginger citrus dressing....it so damn good!

my favorite fish is escolar, but i never eat more than one order because i hear it causes uncontrollable orange diarrhea. (lol) Second fav is salmon, third is tuna!

As for rolls, I'm not a huge fan of the California roll, unless it is prepared in a way i haven't had before. I like the regular and spicy tuna rolls. I won't eat any rolls with smoked salmon or cream cheese in them. There's one roll i like where they do a spicy tuna roll and add escolar on top with tobiko.....the buttery-ness of the escolar blends great with the tuna and spicy flavors.

SUSHI GOOD!
