OMG....One of my ESL students is graduating! |
|
I was her tutor for 1 and 1/2 years in English, ESL, Chem, and Macroecon. She came to our little Community College barely speaking English, but she worked her way through, and the girl is a genius! Getting her Associate's on Sunday, and then on to UMASS for a physics degree. She's from Cambodia...
In a local article about her, she said that the Peer Tutors were the people that got her through, and that she couldn't have done it without us. I'm going to watch her graduate, and I'll probably cry, but I am so happy. We spent so many happy hours together, my most diligent and dedicated tutee, always bringing me lunch and food gifts, and good conversation. :)

She's the sweetest person, and we had so much fun together. She bought me a gift for my trip to Paris, and we sat for hours looking at her wedding photos from Cambodia. Proud mama, maybe, incredibly proud friend and colleague, hell yes! :D
