(CBS) DOWNEY, Calif. Two armed suspects robbed a Downey restaurant before one accidentally shot himself while fleeing, authorities said.
The robbery occurred at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Lucky Boys 2 restaurant at 12801 Bellflower Boulevard, near Imperial Highway, according to Downey police.
Two suspects, both males, entered the restaurant. One brandished a blue steel revolver, pointed it at the cashier and demanded money, while the second suspect referred to another revolver on his waistband, police said.
The cashier handed them the register cash drawer, both suspects removed the cash and attempted the flee out the door. However the door failed to open and the suspects ran into each other, causing one to accidentally discharge his weapon, injuring himself.
Both suspects fled on foot. One was described as a man around 19 years old, standing five-foot-six and weighing 150 pounds. The other was a male, five feet 11 inches tall, with a thin build, police said.
