My friend was a "Jane Doe" for 13 hours.
Edited on Thu May-31-07 01:53 PM by SoCalDem
She went to the gym like she always did on Wednesdays. Last night was the last night of our bowling league, and she was not there, so her teammates called her cell phone..her home phone..no one had seen her since she left at 11 am. Her daughter was frantic, and had called the police. they were (supposedly) looking for her car. the whole family drove around and called everyone they could think of.. still no Pat..

This morning at 9, a mutual friend called me to tell me ..

She felt faint at the gym..they called 9-11, and apparently she died in the ambulance.

all her IDs and her phone were in the gym locker.. No one knew who she was..

Her family finally located her at 1 AM..

She was 63, and had just retired 2 months ago .. she always had a joke to tell..and a big smile

Let that be a lesson to us all.. keep an ID in your pocket when you go for a walk or to the gym :(

7. Retired two months...damn!
I have yet to understand why good people seem to go early and the dickheads hang around. As the Irish say, I'm sorry for your troubles.

Thanks for the reminder about ID when exercising. I forget to do that sometimes, and it can make a difference, as you pointed out.

19. As I lay dying
having an ID on hand must be one of the least of my concerns.

Didn't anybody call the gym?

But that is why I retired last September when I was 44. Shame she did not get to enjoy her retirement.

20. I think for your family's concern, not your own
was the point of having the ID.

Her family was frantic for hours.
