Where did you have your last lunch or dinner out? Did you like it?
I'm talking about having lunch and dinner at a non-fast food place. My last one was dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in King Of Prussia. The over an hour and a half wait was very annoying, but the food didn't justify the wait. The fish is better at the Limerick Diner, and I wish they had regular rolls for the cheeseburgers. The salad has a good flavor but had too many brown clumps. The cheesecake was quite good, though. Also bad were the uncomfortable, small booths and eating with the lights super dim.

1. Last place I ate lunch at was Thai Ginger (local place in the
Seattle area). Had to wait about 20 minutes; not bad for noontime on a Wednesday. The food was absolutely delicious, and well worth the wait. Service was great also.

5. wow, had to think
It was over a year ago. I need to get out more. :D

I took daughter, step-sister and her 2 kids and boyfriend to CiCi's Pizza in Boone (not sure if it would be considered fast food because it had no drive-in). They serve, buffet style, all you can eat pizza for like $7 a head. Probably 20 different pizzas out with all kinds of strange toppings.

I enjoyed the food and the price. The kids could pick what they wanted. Everyone was happy. Well, until we started catching up on old times hehe.

i got Pad Thai with beef and my daughter some sort of red curry dish, that child is addicted to curry i swear and for an appetizer we got fish cakes and the most delicious thing ever, it's called an angel wing, it's basically a chicken drum stick that they stuff and then fry.

10. The Norton's Restaurant in Bay City, WI
We went there over the past weekend, and it was one of the greatest meals I've ever had.

The restaurant is owned by former Husker Du bassist Greg Norton and his wife. He is in the place most nights, managing the front of the house, while his wife runs the kitchen. The food is absolutely incredible, the beer and wine list extensive, and the coctails amazing.

Plus, I got a chance to talk music with Greg at the bar. I even bought a CD by his new band, which is very interesting (and quite different from his stuff with Husker Du). Who ever thought the bassist for a seminal American rock band could be such an amazing foodie, too?

Check it out: http://www.thenortonsrestaurant.com/

I went to Francesca Fiore, and had an excellent chicken dish with tomatoes, eggplant and mozzarella cheese. And a beer.

I am vacationing at home because I had some painting done and really needed a break from the daily grind.

Mexican. Last Thursday, my younger son's highschool graduation. My father picked up the tab for all 7 of us. (dang should have had the margaritas)

I had a good chili relleno, beef taco, and cheese enchilada combo and 2 Negra Modelos. The relleno was just a bit hot - very good.

17. Last Wednsday evening, we had dinner at "Nana's" here in Durham .
I started with the "house-smoked shrimp with potato gnocci" appetizer,
and had the Kobe flank steak over spinach in a bearnaise sauce for the entree,
with a nice midrange French merlot (I forget the vinyard).

Yes, I liked it. Their food is consistently pretty good.
I just wish they had something on the dessert menu that appealed to me-
they never do. :(

20. I was treated to lunch at the Olive Garden last weekend.
We had a nice conversation with the waiter about the quality/authenticity of the food, the marketing, etc.

I'm surrounded by their advertising here, because my client company does their advertising. I know that the slogan "when you're here, you're family" is just a slogan manufactured out of thin air here on the 5th floor. :P

The food was okay. Nothing was great, but nothing was bad either.

They had a couple of meat dishes with no tomatoes. I was able to get a pasta dish with no dairy. It's not a lot, but they had enough to accommodate dietary restrictions with only minor alterations.

I just got back from vacation. I highly recommend:

Seamens Inne in Mystic, CT
Warrens Lobster House in Kittery, ME (sides are so-so but their fish and seafood are superb)
Paulines in Burlington, VT

YUM!

Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich, NH isn't bad either.

23. I went to Mother India.
The food was f'n awesome. The place was also empty, but I think that was because I got there pretty early.

Upsides: Good food. All you can eat. Vegan. Cheap.

Downsides: The ambiance sucks. Downtown= pay to park.

29. A great place with a stupid name.
It's right near my office in a hideous little strip commercial area. And the name is Wholly Frijoles (dumb, I know). But the food is fucking fantastic. It's Mexican with a very upscale twist. They have burritos and tacos of course, but their entrees and other dishes are too good to pass up.

Today I had chilled mango soup (sweet, savory, spicy and refreshing-YUM!) and some lovely marinated and grilled skewers. They are served with grilled veggies (jicama, chayote, red pepper) and chipotle mashed potatoes.

Their tortas are unbelievable. For 7 bucks, you get your choice of soup or salad and a sandwich that is enormous and sooooooooo delicious. I can never finish more than half the sandwich. You get a choice of marinated steak, chicken, breaded pork or grilled veggies. It's served on really fresh bread with lettuce, tomato and a fantastic avocado spread.

30. Yeah, I just don't get why people wait so long in line to eat at the Cheesecake Factory.
The food is soooooooo not worth the wait. The prices are not good. The waitstaff, in my 2 or 3 experiences, was not well-trained and was juggling too many tables. And the cheesecake was just okay. Too sweet for my taste, but okay.

48. An Arabic restaurant called Farhat
I had hummus, moutabel, Arabic bread, cucumber salad, white beans, grilled chicken, and rice pudding. It was delicious, and I went way off my diet eating there. I planned on only eating the beans, but then they set the fresh bread and hummus and moutabel in front of me, and well, all control was lost.

The last lunch out was a few days before, at an ultra cheap ( about seven dollars total for four people to eat, including tea and dessert) Indian vegetarian restaurant. It's called Uttam, and I love it with a passion. Masala dosa, dokla, aloo parata, saffron ras malai..... sheer heaven. Then the best masala chai in town, it makes me happy just thinking about it!
