CONFESS!!!! How old were you when you first bought beer and what brand was it?? |
|
Since we're on a beer theme it'll be interesting to see what standards we had 'back in the days'
My first 6-pack (which was actually an 8-pack of ponies) was Genny Cream Ale. It was after graduation night in high school and they made me go buy it since I was the tallest of the group (some reason they thought that made me older). I bought it from this absolute dive bar along RT 11&15 in central PA; probably someplace north of Duncannon but not quite to New Buffalo. But this was really really rural PA.

|

beer and wine at that age. I never drank it, but I bought it. :) My mother was throwing a party at her house, and she had me run to the grocery store for beer and wine. I'm glad I could comply back then.
I still don't like beer.
Edited to add: Duh. I forgot to say it was Schlitz. My sister fondly refers to Schlitz as "Schitz" with good reason.

11. Young and 12-pack of Old Milwaukee |
|
I "lifted" my older brother's ID one evening. He wasn't old enough either. I learned the cashiers usually didn't really care. I of course returned the ID, but I did it with a 12 pack of Old Milwaukee in arms.
From this a "camp from Hell" was born in a vacant lot. Many afternoons were spent there.
Bad child! Bad!

Dania or Ft Lauderdale. I can't rem now we had similar setups at both houses. hmm, about 1979-80ish.
There weren't many vacant lots, but there was one near house. Friends and I would gather there after school. One guy would get ice from a hotel he worked at and fill coolers. I was making mad money for a kid delivering newspapers, so I bought the beer. It was on a canal, so in time we all started getting to it by Whaler or Zodiac. It gets hazy about there.. wow, what a fight for memories lol

Just bought again there a few weeks ago. Memories.
On Edit - I taught JVS about the place and suspect it is where he bought in his post above.

When I was 21 I had to have somebody else get me a free one at a dorm party. The drinking age was 19, but all I had was a student ID. All I had was a sip though, it was awful, just awful :puke: Why do people drink that crap?
