'Party Mom' Who Had Sex With Teens To Spend 300 Days In Jail - NOT Register As Sex Offender
<snip>

CBS13) MODESTO The so-called Grayson 'party mom' who had been accused of having sex with two teenagers and providing beer to several teens has been sentenced to 300-days in jail.

Anna Walker plead guilty to two charges of having sexual relations with minors in March. Under the plea agreement, Walker avoided prison.

Today a Stanislaus County judge ordered Walker to be immediately taken into custody. The judge also ordered her to four years of probation, counseling and to pay restitution.

Many parents were angry saying the sentence was much too light. "She is a molester. She is a child predator." one angry father told CBS13, "I said before, if this was a man do you think she would have got this leniency?" Under the charges Walker faced, she could have been sentenced to a maximum of seven years, eight months in prison.

And under the plea agreement because the victims were not under 14 years of age, Walker will not have to register herself as a sex offender. Another point that upset parents. "She's a sex offender in our eyes." said Tessa Garcia who child was one of the victims, "She did it once. She did it twice. She'd do it again."

Walker was arrested in January on allegations she bought alcohol for a group of teens during a party at her home.

1. so...
this makes me think that in today's climate, people would be calling Mrs. Robinson from 'The Graduate' a child molestor.

But even as a high school graduate he still would have been of legal age of 18 unless he was some sort of Doogie Howser

he's not a sex offender?

Rape isn't a sexual offense?

13. I have the impression that male perpetrators of statutory rape have to
register here - even if it's the consensual college guy with high-school girlfriend stuff. I don't know the technicalities so I could be wrong, but I'm very surprised she doesn't have to register...

14. let me 1st say...I have fundamental issues w/ sexual offender registries
then let me add.... if sexual offenders are made to register, why limit it to crimes where the victim is under-age? A sexual offense is a sexual offense. right?

16. I don't think it is (or should be) limited by age - I was trying to give an
example of the older male younger female version. Here is a link to the crimes in CA that require registration - many or most of them apply to crimes between adults. Looking at that list, I can see that there are things this mom could have plead guilty to that do not require registration, and I assume that her lawyer worked that out deliberately.

CA also has provisions to allow people convicted of the 'lesser' offenses to appeal to e excluded from the publicized version of the registry

Personally, considering what she did, I think this sentence is too light - but I also think she needs psychiatric help more than punishment...

17. thank you
I'm glad to have a better understanding.

I'm w/ you on her sentence. As others have said, I really believe it is gender discrimination. If she had been male and her victims female, I'm sure the sentence would have been much more harsh.

I'm w/ you on the psychiatric help. I don't think it's applicable in all cases of pedastery (because most experts will tell you there is no "cure") but I do believe it would go a long way with this particular offender.

24. the age given in the story is 18, they are "minors" because under 21 and booze served
too many people in this thread comment w.out reading the story

this is not about sex w. boys, this is about a woman getting some young men drunk, having wild sex, chasing them out before hubby got home -- and the 18 year old gets in an accident and blames it all on her, cuz at 18 you know he's a total victim and never heard that driving drunk was a bad idea

none of these people are heroes, neither are they "sex offenders," they are party animals who never would have come to state attention if the "teens" had gone home in a taxi instead of an SUV

21. a woman is ganged by several young men and she's the rapist?
Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 12:15 PM by pitohui
this is crazy

the guy who wrecked the SUV was not a child, he was 18, the "minors" were not children, they were merely too young to be served alcohol (that is, not yet 21) in other words, we have a woman jailed for partying with 18 and 19 year olds

she is not a sex offender if this story is accurately reported, she is a victim of a misogynist society who finds her partying w. multiple young men distasteful

why don't they mention ANY "child" who was under the age of consent, was there ANYONE at the party under age 18, if so, it is not mentioned here

Where, by chance, does it say that? Why is the ADULT suddenly the victim just because she's a woman?

She's an adult, they are minors, end of story.

30. Not end of story. Those teen agers are old enough to breed, go to war,
they are far more worldly and not nearly as angelic as you may think. Same for many young ladies who are sixteen, seventeen and eighteen. They are not naiive, and a distinction needs to be made here. At those ages it is not cut and dried at all.

33. Of course
I'm 21, believe me, I know how our minds work. But I guess my point is that as the law stands now, this is the way it should be.

I happen to vehemently disagree with the law, and the drinking age, but that's a different issue. I just want equal application of the law

34. Cool. I just don't feel it is right, even though it may be how the law
works, that, if she is held criminally liable, then why should the gang of "minors" not bear any responsibility? Are they going to get off scott free? Or what about their parent's liability? Should the woman be held solely responsible for an act that all participated in?

36. She plead guilty to unlawful sex with a minor
"Minor" in the context of sex means under 18. It's also specified that the minor in question was over 14. Perhaps they weren't more specific to avoid identifying the boys in question?

The only thing we can know for sure is that she had sex with two boys who were between the ages of 14 and 18. We can't even rule out the SUV driver as being one of those boys, because the sex took place at an earlier party than the car crash.

There is nothing in any article I've seen to suggest she was gang-raped...

29. why limit registeries to sexual offenders?
why not embezzlers? or burglars? or every type of felon out there? Registering sexual offenders is wrong. They paid the price, like all other convicted criminals Should they be forced to pay for the rest of their lives? If so, then don't ever let them out of prison.

Murderers aren't forced to register in the community they choose to live in, when they are released from prison.

19. the age of the "child" mentioned in the story is 18!
Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 12:12 PM by pitohui
i don't think the woman should have gotten any time if all of these "children" were 18 or 19, we are not told, but an 18 year old knows is perfectly capable of consent yet is still a "teen"

the double standard i see is that women are punished far more harshly than a man would be for buying drinks and having sex with an 18 year old woman

if there were ANY truly under-age teens at this party, fine, but it should have been mentioned in the story, instead of just mentioning a driver, age 18, and his friends, age not given but described as minors, sure, you are a minor for alcohol purposes until age 21! this is total crap and spin

sounds to me like the woman made a bad decision to supply alcohol to the party, the drunk driver wrecked and then blamed everything on her, and somehow it's HER fault that an 18 year old MAN crashed a SUV full of other people and injured every single person in the vehicle

he belongs in jail just as much as she does, an 18 year old knows the laws against DUI

last line of the story:
The driver, 18, crashed the SUV, injuring all its passengers.

So SOMEONE was under 18. If a man had sex with a boy or girl under 18, do you think he'd have to register as a sex offender? I do.

Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 12:18 PM by pitohui
and lots of men have sex with teens age 17, 18, or 19 w.out being sex offenders, be that as it may, state laws vary

read the story again

the woman is not a sex offender and she shouldn't be registered as such, these "teens" were adults altho minors for purposes of serving alcohol

if there had been no auto accident, this case would have never gone to any court

25. I read it again. I read it a THIRD time.
From the article:

"Anna Walker plead guilty to two charges of having sexual relations with minors in March."

Where is that about alcohol? The case came to light as a result of the SUV crash. This woman had sex with boy who were not of the age of consent, hence minors. This isn't about being too young to drink, it's about being under the age of consent. My opinion is that had Ms. Walker been Mr. Walker, she'd have had to register as a sex offender. If you disagree, fine.

That article didn't give enough information. According to other stories, there were two different parties.

"Prosecutors say the 35-year-old Walker provided teenagers with alcohol on two different occasions, molested a 15-year-old boy and had sex with a 16-year-old boy at a party in December."

http://www.ktvn.com/Global/story.asp?S=6597618

In my opinion, she is a sex offender.

When speaking about sex, they ARE NOT talking about 21, they are talking about 18.
