Do you have annual events at your job that make your work life miserable? |
|
Reunions begin on campus today, which means the schedules at the dining hall will be all messed up, there's hardly any parking (in the lot where we pay $900/year) and there's a whole bunch of visitors on campus making life miserable for the rest of us.
Hell, I know they donate a lot of money, but I'll never see any of it.

Reunions and commencement are just miserable to get through.

1. Graduation at University |
|
We are still clearing people for May degrees and the first 3 week summer session courses ended today. Then the 8 week starts, then the 6 week summer session gets rolling two weeks after that. We are trying to finish up one semester and I need to get degree requirement info to students graduating in July so they can add or drop courses if they need to. I will get a break in October. I am hoping there is an Ireland or Scotland trip at the end of the rainbow:party:

2. The hair drug test & quarterly "training classes". |
|
I actually have to allow them to search me every year to ensure I did not use any illegal drugs. Despite the fact I have perfect attendance, have never had an injury or incident, have been a reliable employee for 16 years & on time every day. I do not operate any moving equipment nor do I have a job that drug use would have any impact on. I really resent the fact they require me to surrender my 4th amendment rights in order to keep my job. With that one "policy" they have turned this employee against them. I plan on leaving as soon as possible rather than my previous plan of sticking it out with them until I retire. I no longer care about the quality of my work nor the amount I do. I am doing just enough to keep them satisfied, none of the extra stuff I used to do when I cared.

when you have a new job lined up, take the test clean at the new place, smoke a joint and take one at the old place.

9. I am working on a business plan-no more employers. |
|
It is going to take two-three years to get to the point of being able to quit. I am hoping to have that time coincide with the drug test, If it works out I will take the test then drop by H.R. and resign. I will make sure they know why.

I have usually found them horrible. It's best to go and make a fast but polite getaway, if you can.

5. I refuse to go to them |
|
They suck donkey balls. This is the first year I've skipped my high school reunion too. They treated me like crap then so why should I care? Maybe I'm aging into a curmudgeonly misanthrope.

 Although I don't have to pay that much for parking, the college where I work has the following events that make life totally miserable there: Fall Semester Move-In, orientation (we have three of them :(), commencement, Reunion Weekend, and Trustee meetings. :( I totally understand. :pals:
