Question. I need to address and stuff 100 envelopes |
|
for my parents' surprise anniversary party. I really need to mail them out tomorrow.
So here's the question...
How can I stealthily spread out all over my desk here at work without anyone noticing that I'm totally not doing actual work?
;)

1. stack big piles of actual work on either side of your mailings, just make your desk look |
|
all messy so it's hard to see what your doing by just casually looking.

except my desk is usually clean, so it would stand out if it was that messy. And what if one of my co-workers comes in here?

3. Climb under the desk and do it there |

You should be able to stuff all the envelopes rather quickly (2-3 a minute) then maybe shove them in a drawer and only have 1-2 on your desk at a time?? It will look like you're just doing a little something on the side when the reality is that you are blowing off a days work ;).

4. Well, I would just do it........ |
|
And not make any fuss over it...
You'd be surprised at what people don't see!
If you act guilty and furtive, someone will spot you!

6. I'm thinking about doing just that... |
|
brazen disregard for work time! After all, it is 2:45 on Friday.
But then I'd feel all guilty because everyone else is still working. Though I can argue that I had a really horrid morning and I deserve a break...hmm.

in your drawer - one stack not done, one stack done.
Put your "normal" work on the desk. Put 2-5 envelopes under your normal work - depending on bulk/size, etc.
Slide one out from the bottom at a time and address. Anyone walks up - slide work over envelope.
Transfer finished stack to finished pile, pick up new stack
Et voila.

But - let's just say I used to be a very efficient worker who finished everything much sooner than expected. I would be bored to freakin' tears (pre-'puter days!) so I learned early on how to give the appearance of working when not actually doing so.
Good luck.
