while roadtripping, do you deliberately not stop in red towns? |

I thought of this since I've been driving back and forth from home to college, I figure it's better to not help the economy in Republican areas, so while going to school I didn't get gas or food until Fargo (about as liberal as ND gets) and then not until St. Cloud, and the same reason I don't get gas between here and the Twin Cities, if I'm running low I'll just wait till I get to St. Peter on the way back. It's also kind of like boycotting right wing business like Wal-Mart in a way too, since the owner is most likely a Republican...

....I've had great conversations with lone local liberals in very Republican areas. I've turned people on to DU. There is absolutely no place in America that is a total conservative wasteland.
I've lived most of my life in places that are much more conservative than liberal....I grew up in Indiana....I now live in Montana, there are plenty of passionate progressives in both places.

Here in Alabama, we've collectively voted for the Repubs in every presidential election since 1980, but there are plenty of "passionate progressives" here, take my word for it!

I think it's probably worth the stop. You'll find that most "conservatives" are pretty friendly. They vote primarily for social issues. All Democrats need to do is stop pushing the far left social issues and they'll have these rural folks back in the democratic fold.
Stop and talk to these folk sometime. You may learn something.
