Is it normal (during mid-life) ......
to want to do all the wild things one did not do in the earlier years? I'm starting to yearn for things I never let myself think about during the 'responsible' years. Maybe this is a mid-life crisis?

Realistically, I know I need to be grateful for what I actually have had.
But, there are times ....

6. At mid life...
mortality sinks in
reality sinks in
it is natural to take an inventory
and to wonder what could have been, might have been
and to even find ways to make dreams happen
mid life career changes are not uncommon
total life direction changes happen

you're right where you are supposed to be I suspect

23. I think its normal for sentient passionate intelligent people
To periodically reevaluate their lives and see of what they have is really what they want. What's more, I think it's a recurring event. Not just a "youth" thing, or "mid-life crisis" thing, either.

I know I do. And I'm there again after 10 years in this life. I'm still looking for fulfilling and sustainable work, a solid passionate relationship, *Sigh* At nearly 45, I still feel like I have this angry knot in my stomach. While I appreciate what I have achieved so far, I'm still hungry for what life has to offer that I haven't seen ... yet.

It's also unnerving to say, I don't know what I'll be doing, or who with, in five years.

33. Yeah, I get that twinge
sometimes also.

But I realize we all have our own paths to walk. And mine seems to be very different from others that I know, my family, and friends around here. Everybody's married, has kids, big house, stable careers. And I'm not sure they know really what to make of me: Divorced female, no kids, an intermitent career with highs and lows, pretentions of wanting to write fiction for a living, but a home that is mine for as long as I want it.

40. Emphatically, YES.
:hi: My midlife "passage" or "crisis" or whatever you want to call it hit me like a ton of bricks not long after I hit 40. I was filled with a sense of urgency to do the things I had not yet done and to basically "fill in the blanks". I found my self again after feeling like I'd lost it over the years. It was still there, same as always, but I dusted my self off and rediscovered it. I'm glad I have it back and will never neglect it again. :)

43. What is normal?
It is common.

I'm going through the same thing, so I've been doing some reading on the subject. Some of the the articles are pretty interesting. Especially, the ones that discuss how some people will make rash decisions during this period, even though it may be a temporary phase.

It's hellacious...I know that much.
