Who are your favorite people in the "Harry Potter" books?
~~~~~~~~~~ I have to admit that I have/had a little crush on Sirius, but the twins (Fred & George) are the most fun.
2. Hermione! And Hagrid. And Dumbledore |
|
Dumbledore always knows what's going on, and it's really impressive. And he's quite powerful, but doesn't use that power, and he's an amazing pedagogue in terms of letting the kids be who they are and find their path and know their truth, which I find impressive.
And in the movies, Oliver Wood because I lvoe the actor's voice and he's, well, kinda cute. :-)
3. Strange as it may sound... |
|
...I rather like Snape.
I guess it's because he doesn't allow his prejudice against "mudbloods" to stand in the way of his opposition to Voldemort and the Death Eaters. In fact, since the Dark Lord's rebirth, Snape has put his life on the line in the fight against evil.
I only hope that by the end of the series, Harry and Snape have worked out their differences. They don't have to become friends, mind you, but it would be nice if they could manage some kind of truce.
"he who must not be named" is a mud-blood. Don't ya just love how the Death Eaters kinda skate over that one?
(Kinda like Repugs & Shrub's military record.)
7. Michael Gambon is now playing Dumbledore |
exceptional knighted actor. Played Lyndon Johnson a year or two ago in the HBO film Path to War.
I really like Ron. He's not your garden variety sidekick.
It is hard to imagine another actor in the role of Dumbledore. I think it will be like Roger Moore and the others trying to replace Sean Connery as "James Bond." You get use to them in the role, but they are just not as good as the real thing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/tv_film/newsid_3151000/3151574.stm
10. Hey thanks for the picture |
With a role like Dumbledore (or Gandalf or Merlin) however the actor is constrained so much by the costume, the beard, and the hair. I think that if Gambon can play off of Harris' inflection and mannerisms he will be able to provide ample continuity in the part.
What is most likeable about Hagrid is his childlike devotion to beasts that everyone else considers dangerous. He embraces the animal spirit that threatens, and is therefore demonized by, society.
Was thinking last night of how he might be the bravest of Gryffindors -- going to visit his mindless parents year after year as a child, knowing that they would never recognize him or be able to carry on a sentient conversation.
IMO, there are some big things in the works for Mr. Longbottom in future installments. In the last book, (Order of the Phoenix) you can see that he is really coming out of his shell.
