Should a 22 month old be able to count to 10? |
|
I ask this not for bragging purposes but strictly for developmentally science purposes.
Let's say -Hypothetically- that there was this 22 month old girl named oh let's say -Hypothetically- Josie and she learned how to count to 10. Let's say that -Hypothetically- she had been familiar with numbers enough to think that everything was either 9 or 6 and then -Hypothetically- her mother spent 40 minutes with her on a Sunday morning teaching her 1-10 and she was able to not only repeat the names of the numbers but -Hypothetically of course- was able to identify the number of fingers someone held up (not in order) or the -Hypothetically- the number of items on a table in front of her like lets say a spoon an apple a salt shaker and a cup as "Four".
-Hypothetically- Would that would be pretty impressive from a developmental stand point?
What about if -Hypothetically- she also could compose runon sentences? That would be something too huh?

9. That's, hypothetically, a very bright child you are referring to. |
|
Memorizing the numbers would have been a pretty good accomplishment, but to be able to associate the names of the numbers with the specific number of items is pretty advanced for a 22 month old. It sounds like you are gong to have a lot of fun with her. Hope you can keep up with her.

|
probably because they seem em so much....
I loved it when my son was 2-3 and was teaching letters and numbers to a 5 year old at pre-school.
Congratulations, dad! sounds like you are doing well with the little one!

Don't get me wrong he wasn't reading Steinbeck. Mostly just Jack and Jill books from the 60's and 70's. You know the books with 3 simple words on each page.

16. My Son could count to 11 at 18 months........ |
|
heh heh heh.....
Actually, my son was diagnosed as being hyperlexic, or basically advanced at reading and lagging in spoken communication. So, all blessings apparently come with a downside. Anyway, girls can't do math - everyone knows THAT.... :sarcasm:

Kidding. If she is doing that, she is very bright. You need to move here so we can harness that intellect and boost our SOL scores.
