I just got something very cool in the mail. |
|
OK, some of you may not think this is cool...
Last week I ordered a t-shirt from one of those wacky/humorous Florida writers that I like, Tim Dorsey. The shirt just arrived and inside the package was a surprise.
It was a page from a rough draft of his latest novel. It had hand-written changes on it for the next draft, and he put a personalized autographed at the top of the piece of paper.
Yeah, I'm a book nerd. So this is one of the coolest things to add to my collection.

;-) your user name pretty much already showed your book nerdiness. Are you going to frame it?

2. I think I just might do that. |

Hiaasen has always been my favorite in that genre. I wrote to him once and got back a pre-printed post card with a generic message thanking me for writing. It reminded me of those things you get if you write your congressperson. I know some of these people are very busy, so I'm not complaining about it, but I've been surprised at how many actually write back (including emails) and personalize stuff for their readers. They really stay in touch with the people who make their careers possible. As an aspiring writer, I'm going to remember that if I ever "make it."
