6. A funny conversation I had with other fans at the Stadium |
|
I used to hate it when I'd go to any public event when my kids were little and people would curse a blue streak with them right here.- I'd say- hey , come on, I got little kids here, and it would make no difference.
My favorite exchange with other fans though came when the kids were little and four young guys were sitting in front of us. I politely asked them to refrain from long strings of profanities before they had said a word. They looked at me and one of them said "Oh, don't worry Ma'am. We are seminary students, we don't curse."
So I thanked them and then asked them (this was in the old days, pre-kindler gentler Steinbrenner and pre-Yankee winning teams), if it would be a sin to wish Steinbrenner was dead. They put their heads together, talked it over for a minute or two and then said "No, ma'am, that'd be OK"

10. I got heckled once by two Yankee fans in Las Vegas, for heaven sake. |
|
Was watching a playoff game between the Yankees and my Mariners, in the sports bar at The Venetian. I didn't hear the cocktail waitress ask if I wanted something to drink until she asked a second time. I responded to her, and then these two blowhard asshole Yankee fans sitting behind me started heckling me, insulting me, etc. I finally turned around and told both of them, "Just shut the fuck up!" They did. Do. Not. Mess. With. Me!
