I did my annual free credit report at
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

I guess you can do this once every year for free. I think it coast me $7.95 to get these numbers which are extrapolated from the report.

I found out that my credit score is 527 and "my credit is better than 00% of the nation's population." (or something to that effect; the 00% is certain)

Yet another reminder of how bad staying married to someone robbing me blind was.

Thought I'd share.

:dunce:

1. Which company did you go through?
That's your credit score with that company, they vary with each one, because they each base it on different stuff. No one has one true credit score.

I can tell you your National Risk Score, if you like.

GACK! Work is following me home.

2. Transunion
I'd never ask you to take work home. I was just ranting and relieving some pressure :)

So each of the 3 companies listed may have more stuff that I do not know about?

curious now.

3. Yup, pretty much.
Nah, I'm only teasing about work. I just work for a tenant screening place, so I see peoples rental and credit history all day, everyday.

And believe me, there are plenty of people with way worse Credit. WAY worse. :o

10. That's good.
The only problem I have is that one shouldn't have to pay anything for their credit score. It's my information. They should be paying me for allowing them access to it.

12. I hear ya
It sounds to me like its just 3 companies opinions. They invented the "score," and they are selling it to the public. Consulting?

13. And, on the flip side...
I don't see where my credit score should determine if I can get TiVo, car insurance, a cell phone, or even a job - as long as I'm willing to work with a little cash up front (except for the job).

Too many bankers and lenders, however, seem hellbent on having King Credit rule more and more of the minuitae of our lives. I don't care if my credit is spotless or hopeless - is this the Land of Opportunity or not?

Bankers run the show with the loan and credit game. It's the land of opportunity if you're connected.

16. That irks the shit out of me too, derby.
Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 09:28 PM by SeattleGirl
My credit score is in the toilet right now, because of a sharp decline in my income (i.e. I am currently making 1/4 of what I was making a year ago). I'm working on building a good caseload, so that I can bill more and thus, make more, but in the meantime, I got behind on almost every bill I have. Was just going to apply for a part-time job at the supermarket about a mile from my house, to make a bit more money while I work on increasing my caseload, and THE VERY FIRST THING on the on-line application was space to enter my SSN. I know what that means. It means that they will do a credit check on me, and I probably wouldn't qualify to work there.

They are having hiring representatives at the store on Friday, so I think I'll go down there and talk to them, see what the deal is, but shit, I fell behind in my bills because I wasn't making the kind of money I used to make, but I'll probably be prevented from getting a lot of different jobs because the reduction in income affected my credit rating.

FUCK!
