How much (if any) recess do the schools in your area give the students? |

Many schools got rid of recess years ago, even before NCLB. I guess they still have it here because the school got new playground equipment but I don't know how much. We got two 15 minutes periods of recess as a privilege most days. We also had a 40 minute period of PE 1-2 times each week.

I have elementary recess duty every day. It is the longest, most boring part of my day, even worse than lunch duty. They have 30 minutes before lunch. It is too long and they get bored and start picking on each other. They cannot make up games, cannot entertain themselves, cannot even get along unsupervised. "Indoor recess" (on rainy days) is even worse. I hate it!
Yes, they have beautiful playground equipment, lots of balls, jump-ropes, sidewalk chalk, hula hoops, you name it. PTO buys them a lot of "stuff." Kids just don't know how to "play" anymore!
They also have 30 min. PE classes per week. They have music once a week, and art just every other week.
