Cat-Cam
Ever wondered what your cat is doing while outside? Mr. Perthold decided he wanted to find out and constructed a camera his cat, Mr. Lee, could wear while roaming. Here are the results. Also there is an explanation how he built the camera.

Even though the page has German ending it is written in English

1. I don't see a description of how he disinfected and bandaged...
...himself after trying to get the cat to wear a camera.

2. LOL
"Big moment no. 1: attach the collar with the camera to the cat. The reaction was not very happy but finally accepted. Reality check passed :-)"

3. Looks like Mr. Lee really gets around.
That's a very interesting experiment, and he's
already got some great pics there. Bookmarking.

4. I really think it is interesting
I know I always wanted to know what my cat does when she is outside roaming. I guess most times she just slept somewhere but one never knows ...

5. I was surprised by how many other cats are in the photos.
Looks like a busy social life he's got.

6. That is true
but then if you think about it, feral cats always are in groups too. So why shouldn't domestic cats. I think one can learn a lot about the own cat with such a camera. Someone should start a research on that :)

11. Cats are quite social
generally they don't fight much except over females.

15. None of the cats I know are -THAT- social, though.
The males here on my block regularly skirmish over "territory",
with no females involved. (They're all neutered, anyway.)

But it looks like Mr. Lee there spends his whole day travelling
to meet other cats at designated meeting places, and nary a
catfight pic to be seen.

Maybe he's just really popular? Or maybe all the cats I know
are doing stuff I never see?

Either way, it's a really interesting project.

9. We watch ours from our 2nd floor deck
Particularly funny is watching her stalk squirrels - she is WAY out of their league, and they chatter and yell to warn each other. We watched her chase a groundhog once, and surprisingly, the tubby little thing outran her.

Never SAW her interact with other cats, although we've certainly HEARD her interact with them (errrrrerrrerrr! hiss! hiss! hiss!)
