What temperature is your cooling system set at in the summer?
My husband would love it if we didn't have an air conditioner, but I insisted on it years ago. I like it at 74-75 degrees. When I was pregnant 9 years ago, I had to have it at a cool 72. What temperature do you all set your house at when it's really hot outside?

1. 75-76
Unless it's really humid, then I will cave and bring it down a little more.

3. The first thing I did when I moved into my house twenty years ago.....
was toss the air conditioner. If my ancestors crossed the plains without even Polaroid glasses, I can live without air conditioning, and I live in the Sacramento valley, notorious for triple digit summer temperature.

7. Between 73 and 78 depending on how hot it is outside.
My aunt wants the thermostat at the opposite extreme of whatever it is outside. She's always either cold or hot. I usually get hot easier than I get cold. It used to be the other way around.

I think it's better to keep it at a steady temp, instead of adjusting it all the time.

11. I don't have an air conditioner
Of course, I live in Seattle, but I don't generally like them. When I lived in Michigan I preferred an open window if possible.

14. 80ish
If it's under 95 outside, I don't even turn mine on. Over 95, I usually kick it on in the evenings after I get home from work. I leave it on until it's 80 in the apartment and by that time it's usually cooling off outside, so I turn it off and re-open the windows.

So far I've only used it for about 90 minutes total this season.

23. My room temp is set to about 68
...unfortunately, that is achieved by a HEATER!!! Not a fan or air conditioning!

Living on the coast in San Francisco usually guarantees summers that look like late November everywhere else in the Northern Hemisphere.

26. 70.
Outside it is hot and humid and unbearable for several months. It does NOT cool off at night during the worst of it in July and August and September. You can't sleep when it's humid and the low temp at night is 78 or 80.

Fortunately now I have Central Air which is a necessity.

27. No AC here. Just box fans.
Mostly they do the trick, but damn, the bedroom, on the 3rd floor, can get really freakin' HOT in the summer!

28. Keep it great at 78 ! ...or as low as 76...
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 01:53 AM by adsosletter
Depends on the heat. It will easily hit over 110* here a few times during the Summer but, as they say, it's a "dry" heat.

Now...I spent last July and August in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee, Iowa and I don't know how y'all do it...

:D
