Biology Question: How can a 16-oz kitten...
...put out poops that can stink up two rooms? x(

Yes, we have a new kitty in the house, and she's great. Her name is Practice Jersey Batting Practice Mal Practice Daisy Jane. :bounce:

2. Daisy J is #3
But the stink is WAY out of proportion to her size.

3. Really? That sounds like my parent's cat.
He's really small, but he puts out an odor that could choke a mule.

4. I once had a cat that would fart every time you picked him up.
Crazy cat.

11. Our dog/cat teams are now equal at 3 apiece.
We'll stay with the equilibrium for awhile. ;-)

5. What are you feeding Daisy Jane?
Try giving her something else and see if her poop stinks less.

6. Dry kitten food.
She's only been with us for 3 days, so we'll give it a bit. At least she's using the cat boxes now, which helps a LOT.

7. I had a cat like that
Someone suggested the chicken version of Purina One, supposedly the grains in most cat food are the source of most of the smell. I switched and sure enough, it greatly reduced the odor.

Of course, cats think their shit doesn't stink anyway.

8. I was thinking the same thing - the high grain content of cheap dry foods
probably has a lot to do with the smell! Lower grain content, higher fiber, and higher protein levels could make a world of difference in her feces...

9. No explanation
We have a 20 lb. pug who can clear out two rooms with one fart. And she puts out a bowel load that looks pretty comparable to mine.

12. Awww! How old is yours?

We just got ours about 3 days ago too, and I feel your pain! :o

And yes, using the litter box does make it somewhat more tolerable, hehe.

Ps We just switched him to Wellness Kitten Formula Dry, and it's grain free, which should cut down on the stink, I hear. :)

...but develops skills on a daily basis - fascinating to watch. :)

She stares down the dogs - I think she'll start to think she's one of them. She's already following them around. :D

15. Ours is 8 weeks
I know! It's totally fascinating. We're headed to the vet today for ear mite treatment, and a check up, and dewormer most likely. Baby's got some itchy ears! :o

14. Awww...kitty poop!
Our cat's poops could curl your hair, too, although I have noticed that it's not as bad since she passed the one-year-old mark a couple of months ago.

And, ditto to whoever upthread mentioned the gas-producing Pug. We have one, too, and she doesn't do it a lot...but when she does, dear lord, run for your life!!! Pee-yoo!
