The coolest thing I have ever done (aka steppin' up)

This is from Memorial Day weekend on a river just down the road from Duluth Minnesota. I am in the second boat (Yellow boat, blue drysuit/helmet and white paddle blades). This is a very muscular class IV (out of I-V) and was my first crack at something with so little margin for error.

You'll probably want to turn your sound down a bit--there's a lot of wind noise, but you can hear my muppet like voice in the background, and yes I am using profanity...sorry. :)

3. It's those rocks that ratchet up the difficulty rating

flipping or swimmiing could have GRUESOME consequences. This was also pretty much full-on flood stage--I ran it last weekend at fish flow and took the line on river left (picture frame right), the water was slower, but the rocks were more exposed, so the difficulty stayed about the same.

7. It's weird, I'm really not an adrenaline junkie, but....

I like to challenge myself, not scare myself, however I'm reaching the point where to do one, I have to do the other.

It was a strange mix of emotions, satisfaction, relief, exhiliration and yes, sadness that it passed so quickly.
